Head Volleyball Coach
Job Description: Head Volleyball Coach, St. Gregory’s University St. Gregory’s University seeks a head volleyball coach for the recruitment and retention of student-athletes in accordance with NAIA and university guidelines. The coach is expected to produce a competitive program in the context of the mission of the university. Qualifications: Bachelor´s degree from a 4 year institution with a Master´s preferred. The candidate should have successful coaching experience in an educational environment, at the collegiate level (preferably) or high school level and be able to organize, recruit, develop and administer the volleyball program. Must have an understanding of basic First Aid, life-saving techniques and care and prevention of injuries. Teaching experience is a plus. Possible teaching available for qualified individuals with Master’s in a related field. Commercial driver’s license required by beginning of season. Employment Status: Full-time staff. Knowledge, skills and abilities required: • Demonstrate knowledge of volleyball and applicable NAIA rules and regulations • Demonstrate sound coaching philosophy and strong work ethic • Enable student athletes to develop physically, mentally and spiritually • Support the mission of the university • Manage athletic schedules and events, equipment, budgets, etc. • Lead, motivate, positively influence student-athletes in academics and athletics • Work and communicate effectively and collegially with individuals from diverse ethnic, cultural, and social-economic backgrounds • Possess strong community relations skills to develop and foster university, community, and student relations • Able to work without supervision • Enforce discipline, nurture student needs and model sportsman-like behavior at all times • Develop volleyball at a competitive level • Perform other duties as assigned Working conditions and physical effort: • Work involves moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises. • Moderate physical activity. Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 25 pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day. • Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions. • Occasional travel with teams to sporting events.
